Choose and adjust subtitles

Use embedded tracks, online providers and separate Live TV preferences.

Before you start

Options depend on your plan, profile, installed build and provider. Understand access. Screenshots use fictional demonstration data; a preview layout can differ slightly from a public build.

#Choose a track while watching

Open the player’s Subtitles control, then choose an available embedded track or Off. Some streams contain no selectable subtitle tracks. Captions permanently burned into the picture cannot be turned off.

#Set language and appearance

Open Settings → Playback & audio → Subtitles.

  1. Enable Auto-select subtitles if you want a matching track to start automatically.
  2. Choose Languages in priority order. Embedded matches are preferred to online subtitles.
  3. Set Text Size and Text Colour for readable captions.
  4. Reopen a title and inspect the subtitle picker. If timing differs, use the player’s subtitle timing controls when available.
Subtitle settings: review automatic selection, language and appearance preferences. In-player track selection is separate. Actual app screen · fictional demonstration content, not included with M3ufy. Layout may vary by version and device.

#Online subtitle services

SubDL and SubSource can be enabled together, with merged results. They require working connectivity and appropriate service/API access. Their personal-key rows are beside the provider controls in Playback & audio → Subtitles, not in a public support post. Choose a subtitle matching the release and episode; a matching title alone may still have different timing.

#Live TV is separate

Disable Live TV subtitles / CC keeps selectable live captions off across channels and restarts. Choosing Off in the live player saves this preference; selecting a track enables them again. Movie and series subtitle preferences are separate.

#More subtitle controls inside the player

The in-player track/style panel has controls beyond the main Settings tab: text size, colour, outline, bold, bottom position and opacity. Open Subtitles while a title is playing, select the available style control and adjust it while checking the picture. Bottom position moves text vertically; it is not subtitle timing/synchronisation. Embedded image-based captions or burned-in captions may not honour every text-style setting.
