Watch Live TV

Browse groups, preview channels, use the info bar and return to recent channels.

Live TV: groups on the left, channels in the middle, and preview, current programme and upcoming listings on the right. Actual app screen · fictional demonstration content, not included with M3ufy. Layout may vary by version and device.
Before you start

Options depend on your plan, profile, installed build and provider. Understand access. Screenshots use fictional demonstration data; a preview layout can differ slightly from a public build.

#Groups, channels and preview

Live TV separates groups, channels and the preview/details pane. With several activated playlists, groups can appear in a playlist tree; a single source uses the simpler group list. The channel list gains room when focused, so the groups sidebar can collapse without changing the selected source.

  1. Choose a group and browse channels with UP/DOWN. Merely moving focus does not retune the preview.
  2. Press OK on a channel to load it in the preview.
  3. Press OK again on the already-previewing channel to enter fullscreen. The channel being previewed and the row merely under the cursor can differ.
  4. Use LEFT from the channel list to return to groups. RIGHT can move focus into an existing preview/details pane; LEFT returns from that pane to channels.
Keep in mind

If a group list is long, press LEFT while focused on a group below the first to jump to the first group. A group-sidebar shortcut is not the Guide’s hold-LEFT archive command.

#Info bar and recent channels

The info bar shows channel information and available programme timing. Recent channels let you return to channels you have actually visited. Their action is configurable under Navigation; the visual style is selected with Appearance → Live TV info bar. No programme percentage can be inferred when a source publishes no usable guide.

#Favourites and channel actions

Hold OK on a channel row, release it, then choose an action with a fresh OK press. The menu identifies the channel you will modify. BACK closes it without changing the channel.

  1. Add to favourites or Remove from favourites toggles that channel’s saved favourite state.
  2. Add to my group appears once at least one custom group exists. Choose the destination group; create groups first in Manage Groups if the action is absent.
  3. Guide source assigns a stored EPG channel; Automatic in its picker restores matching.
  4. Pick a logo chooses guide artwork for this channel; Provider logo restores its original image.
  5. In the Favourites group, Reorder picks up the channel. UP/DOWN moves it; LEFT sends it to the top, RIGHT to the bottom; OK/BACK finishes.
Keep in mind

The Live TV browsing-list menu does not contain every fullscreen/Guide action. Record a programme from the Guide, or use the fullscreen quick menu to record the playing channel. Advanced channel edits depend on app access.

#Radio stations

Radio uses live streams from groups identified as radio in the playlist. It can be hidden in the main menu by default: enable Radio in Settings → Appearance & navigation → Navigation → Main menu. Choose a station as you would a channel. An empty Radio page can simply mean the provider has no recognised radio groups.

#If picture and guide disagree

First verify the actual channel, region and feed variant. Open that playlist’s TV Guide settings, check the enabled sources and channel assignment, then refresh or retry that guide. Use the same source for the channel row, detail panel and timeline. Send a report if they still disagree after refresh; do not delete all playlists to fix a single mapping.

#Read the channel row and detail pane

The programme line below each channel is its matched current EPG title. The preview/details pane describes the previewed channel, not every row you move past. A favourite star and recording indicator are separate states. If an EPG label is wrong, correct its mapping instead of choosing a different playback engine.

#Fullscreen shortcuts are a separate layer

Once playing fullscreen, hold OK for the Live quick menu. It offers playback, recording, audio, aspect, clock, multi-view and engine controls where supported. Short OK, holding DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT panel assignments have their own Navigation settings. Use the dedicated fullscreen tutorial for the complete menu and conditional actions.
