M3ufy Player ("M3ufy", "we", "us") is a media player application for Android TV and similar devices. This policy explains what information the app and our services collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
M3ufy Player is a player only. It does not provide, host, bundle or sell any channels, streams, movies or other content. You supply your own IPTV playlist or subscription from a third-party provider of your choosing. We are not responsible for, and have no control over, that provider or its content.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- IPTV playlists & credentials. When you add a playlist (an M3U URL, or Xtream Codes host, username and password) — in the app or through our web dashboard — that information is stored so it can be used to connect to your provider and, if you use pairing, synced to your paired devices. It is used only to load your own content and is never shared or sold.
- Device pairing. If you pair a device, we associate a device identifier with your playlists and settings so they can be delivered to that device.
Information collected automatically
- Device & app data: a generated device identifier/token, device model and type, and the app version — used to run pairing and sync.
- Playback & library data: your watch progress (continue watching), watched history and favourites, so they can follow you across your paired devices.
- Optional diagnostics (off by default): if you enable diagnostics, the app may send anonymous crash and playback-error reports to help us fix problems. These are limited to error codes, device/codec information, and the host name only of a failing stream (the full URL, username and password are removed); any IP address is masked.
Third-party account connections
- Trakt. If you connect a Trakt account, an access token is stored on your device and used to sync your watch history, progress, watchlist and scrobbles with Trakt. We do not receive your Trakt password.
2. How we use information
- To load and play the playlists you add.
- To sync your progress, favourites, settings and playlists across your paired devices.
- To provide the web dashboard for managing your devices and playlists.
- To fetch descriptive metadata and subtitles for the titles you browse (see Third parties).
- To diagnose and fix playback problems, if you opt in to diagnostics.
- To deliver app updates and respond to support requests.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. Data stored on your device vs. our servers
Most settings and your Trakt token are stored only on your device. Data needed for cross-device sync (playlists, watch progress, favourites, device pairing records) is stored on our servers, keyed to your device identifier. Connections to our services use encryption (HTTPS/TLS).
4. Third-party services
To enrich the experience, the app may send the title name (and season/episode numbers) of what you browse to the following services, and receives metadata, artwork or subtitles in return. Each service has its own privacy policy:
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — metadata, artwork, logos, trailers, original language.
- Trakt — account sync (only if you connect an account).
- OMDb, MDBList, TVmaze, Cinemeta — ratings and additional title metadata.
- SubDL, SubSource — subtitle search and download.
- YouTube — trailer playback.
Your IPTV provider is also a third party; any data you exchange with them (including your login and viewing) is governed by their privacy practices, not ours.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- with the third-party services listed above, strictly to provide the features you use;
- with infrastructure providers that host our servers, under confidentiality;
- where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and service.
6. Data retention
We keep sync data (playlists, progress, favourites, pairing records) for as long as your device remains paired or until you delete it. Optional diagnostic reports are kept only as long as needed to investigate and improve reliability. When you unpair a device or request deletion, the associated data is removed. You can delete a device and everything stored for it at any time at m3ufy.com/delete-account.html, or remove individual playlists, devices and API keys at m3ufy.com/link. Records of subscription credits already spent are retained as a billing audit trail, with the device identifiers replaced by "deleted".
7. Your choices & rights
- Diagnostics: turn error reporting on or off in Settings at any time (off by default).
- Trakt: disconnect at any time, which clears the token from your device.
- Continue Watching / library: clear your continue-watching list or remove favourites in the app.
- Playlists: remove any playlist you added.
- Access & deletion: you may request access to, or deletion of, the data associated with your device by contacting us (see below).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; contact us to exercise them.
8. Children
M3ufy Player is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
