Learn the remote
Move around the app, use long presses, and customise fullscreen shortcuts.
Options depend on your plan, profile, installed build and provider. Understand access. Screenshots use fictional demonstration data; a preview layout can differ slightly from a public build.
#Focus and selection
The highlighted card or button has focus. Use the direction pad to move; OK selects; BACK closes the current layer before leaving a page. A short press and a hold can do different things. Follow the help line on the screen when a dialog has its own controls.
#Live TV shortcuts
Short UP/DOWN in fullscreen changes channel. OK, holding DOWN, BACK and LEFT/RIGHT can be reassigned.
- Open Settings → Appearance & navigation → Navigation.
- Select OK button on a channel, Holding Down on a channel, What BACK does, or the left/right-arrow setting.
- Read the displayed action and select the one you want.
- Return to fullscreen Live TV and try it. If a shortcut differs from this manual, check these settings before assuming the remote is faulty.
Recent-channel layouts can differ between builds. The configured action and the on-screen controls remain the best guide.
#Typing and closing the keyboard
Select a search or text field to open the Android keyboard. Submit using its Search/Enter/Done action, then move focus to the results. BACK dismisses the keyboard if it stays open. In forms, Save commits the edit and Cancel abandons it; closing a keyboard is not the same as saving a form.
#Long presses depend on the screen
In the Guide grid, hold LEFT to browse earlier catch-up programmes and hold OK to open that programme/channel’s actions. In the Live TV channel list, hold OK for favourites, groups, guide assignment and logos. In fullscreen Live TV, hold OK for the playback quick menu; hold LEFT requests rewind through supported provider catch-up. In Sports, hold OK on a match for Watch/reminder/recording choices. Always release the opening hold before making a menu selection.
#When arrows change meaning
While reordering favourites, arrows move the channel rather than changing the guide time or opening a player panel. Finish the move with OK/BACK first. Likewise, when an action menu, track picker or dialog is open, its controls take priority. BACK closes that layer before the page handles it.
