Fullscreen player: shortcuts and menus

Find the Live quick menu, change engines, record, restart, adjust tracks and use the movie player’s extra controls.

Actual app screen · fictional demonstration content, not included with M3ufy. Layout may vary by version and device.
Before you start

Options depend on your plan, profile, installed build and provider. Understand access. Screenshots use fictional demonstration data; a preview layout can differ slightly from a public build.

#Open the Live quick menu

While a live channel is fullscreen and no other dialog/panel is active, hold OK/centre, then release it. Use UP/DOWN to choose an enabled item and press OK again. BACK closes the menu. Touch users can hold the unobstructed video surface. Short OK follows the configured live action instead; it is not the full menu.

#Audio track, Subtitles and Clock while playing

Audio track opens the audio tab when there is more than one track. Subtitles opens the available subtitle tracks; it can be unavailable if the stream supplies none. Clock while playing opens choices for showing the clock with controls, pinned left or pinned right. Global clock preferences remain in Appearance. A greyed-out track control can reflect a stream limitation rather than a broken remote.

#Pause, Resume and From the start

Pause/Resume uses your configured Live TV pause behaviour. When the live picture is paused, a short OK can resume it even if OK normally shows the info bar. From the start restarts the current programme only when the channel has provider catch-up and usable current EPG; it is disabled when those requirements are missing. Already being in catch-up can also affect the offered action.

#Favourites, aspect ratio and recording

Add to Favourites / In Favourites changes the playing channel’s favourite state. Aspect cycles the available picture-fit modes; stretching or cropping does not create more video detail. Record starts recording the current channel; Stop recording ends that recording. This is different from a future Guide programme booking.

Keep in mind

Recording consumes storage and can affect provider connections. Review active recordings in Recordings. The menu label reflects whether this channel is currently being recorded.

#Open Multi-view

Multi-view opens the multi-screen view with the current channel as its starting point. Add more channels there only if your device and subscription permit the extra decoders/connections. It is not a way around a provider’s connection cap.

#Switch playback engine without leaving the stream

When an alternate engine is available, the Live menu shows mpv or ExoPlayer as the destination. It names the engine to switch TO, not necessarily the one already playing.

  1. Hold OK in fullscreen Live TV and release it.
  2. Choose mpv to retry using mpv, or ExoPlayer to return to ExoPlayer when offered.
  3. Allow a brief stream reopen and check picture/sound. For on-demand content, check the resumed position as well.
  4. To choose the normal engine for future playback, use Settings → Playback → Live TV player or Movies & series player.
Keep in mind

The quick switch is conditional on mpv being available in the build and is not offered for recorded-file playback. It is not a general three-engine selector, and it cannot fix bad credentials, provider limits or an offline stream.

#LEFT, DOWN and recent channels in fullscreen

A short LEFT opens the panel assigned in Navigation; holding LEFT asks to step backwards through supported provider catch-up. This is playback rewind, not the Guide grid’s archive-browsing command. Short UP/DOWN changes channels. Holding DOWN opens recent channels when enabled and recent entries exist. Navigate that shelf with LEFT/RIGHT, OK to tune and UP/BACK to leave it.

Keep in mind

Hold-LEFT rewind requires archive support. The Guide, tracks, menus, recent-channel shelf and other overlays own their keys while open, so close them before testing a fullscreen shortcut.

#Guide panel, past and future programmes

The fullscreen Guide/EPG panel is opened by its configured shortcut or relevant remote key. A current archive-supported programme can offer From the start; selecting an available past entry starts catch-up. Selecting a future programme opens planning actions to record or be reminded. BACK closes the panel; do not confuse this with the separate full-page Guide grid.

#Movies and episodes: More options

Movies/series have a different extra-options menu. Open the More/options control in the playback bar; a touch hold on the unobstructed video surface also opens it. Do not assume the Live-only remote hold-OK menu is identical.

  1. Playback speed cycles the supported speeds.
  2. Aspect ratio cycles picture-fit modes.
  3. Switch to mpv / ExoPlayer retries the title with the alternate built-in engine when available.
  4. Stream information opens technical facts; close that information panel with OK/BACK.
  5. Open in another player hands the source to a compatible installed player if one is available.
Keep in mind

An external player is a separate app; its subtitle handling, credentials, controls and progress handoff can differ. Audio/Subtitles and episode selection also have their own controls, rather than all living in More.

#Track styling and manual re-sync

The Audio/Subtitles panel includes more than selecting a language. Subtitle style controls include size, colour, outline, bold, bottom position and opacity. The Audio tab can offer manual re-sync to restart the decoders at the current moment when sound drifts. Re-sync causes a brief pause; it is different from changing a network buffer or guide mapping.

#Refreshed recent-channel cards

The recent-channel shelf now uses channel-logo cards beneath the raised info bar. Available current and next programme details are shown on each card; missing guide information is not replaced with an invented schedule.

  1. Use the Recent channels shortcut configured in Navigation. Holding DOWN opens the shelf when enabled.
  2. Move LEFT/RIGHT between recent channels and press OK to tune.
  3. Use UP or BACK to leave the shelf.
Keep in mind

Watch some channels first so the shelf has recent entries. Remote assignments and the Classic/Glass info-bar setting affect how you reach and see it.
